Meet the Eptings
Founder, Lee Epting
Lee Epting, founder of Epting Events, got his start in private catered events in the late 1960s. Word spread about his delicious food and knack for putting together a fun party, and in 1977 Lee Epting Catering was born. Today, the company is known as Epting Events and employs more than 70 full-time employees and over 250 part-time caterers. The last two decades have seen enormous growth at Epting Events, including an international tourism conference in Switzerland where Lee was sent to cater and represent the state of Georgia. In recent years, Lee’s work with Epting Events has been featured on Bravo’s The Newlyweds, TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, and on TBS’ Trends with Benefits. Several of Epting Events’ parties have been featured in Southern Living, Southern Weddings, Occasions Magazine, Weddings Unveiled, Garden & Gun and Atlanta Brides. Now, fans of Epting Events can catch Lee and his sons, Ashley and Daniel, on Black Tie & BBQ on Comcast Xfinity On-Demand. This is a behind-the-scenes event and travel show following the Epting crew as they cater some of the best parties around the Southeast.
CEO Ashley Epting
Raised around the catering and events industry, planning parties is in Ashley’s blood. Moving to New York City to attend the Gallatin School in NYU, Ashley worked for several different catering companies and restaurants in the city. Working for other caterers allowed Ashley to pull ideas and inspiration for when he eventually returned home to Georgia to work at his family’s company, Epting Events. Today, Ashley works tirelessly to merge his passion for the entertainment industry with his love for catering and the event planning business. For the last several years, Ashley has served on the board of the Atlanta Film Festival and Epting Events has served as a catering sponsor for this notable event. Now, fans of Epting Events can catch Ashley and the rest of the Epting family on Black Tie & BBQ on Comcast Xfinity On-Demand. The show will focus on the Epting Family and crew and their adventures in party planning.
COO Daniel Epting
Daniel Epting was raised in an event planning family, so naturally a love of entertaining was passed down to him as well. He began as a busser and shortly after began running kitchens for high-end served meals and large scale buffets. After working in construction and house restoration, he rejoined his father and brother in 2009 at Epting Events and is now the COO, running the company’s operations and logistics. Daniel recently opened The Cotton Press, an exclusive Epting venue entertaining 500 to 600 people. Daniel, along with his new venue, can also be seen on Black Tie & BBQ.

2014 Client Testimonials
“Dear Lee- A small note of BIG THANKS for the generous hospitality you and your team showed me in Athens during the Southern Coterie Summit. I enjoyed chatting with you and learning about Epting Events almost as much as that tomato pudding! Thank you for opening your home to me and being such a gracious and fun host. Cheers, Hunter Lewis” (Food Editor, Southern Living Now Editor, Cooking Light)
“Epting Events has helped us raise $40,000 for our market which we have used to support healthy, local food access for underserved members of our community. They understand when to put the bottom line aside and focus on what’s needed in the community. Their generosity is authentic, their skill and talent real, and to boot, they’re tons of fun to work with!” – Jan Kozak in conjunction w/ Wholesome Wave
“We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and the Epting team for the most incredible wedding reception ever. Cassie and Jeff did a magnificent job from start to finish. There were no details left unturned. They thought of everything .This town is still buzzing about it. You all made it so personal by incorporating Eliza and Garrett’s taste into the decor and also by using family treasures to complete the look and cozy feel of the evening. It was pure perfection.” -Gus Pursley III
“Thank you so much for your generous contribution to last week’s launch party! To say the catering was a hit is quite the understatement: People couldn’t stop raving about the ham sandwiches. It was so great to meet you, as well – the business you’ve built is quite impressive and clearly run with an enormous amount of love and dedication. Thank you again, Katharine, Emily, and Jana”
“The people just kept bragging on the food at our fundraiser for the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support! Your menu selection was perfect and the food delicious. Rick is an awesome employee for you and I was delighted to see Ashley again and to learn he is doing well! I really appreciate you helping us with this event. You are an amazing man Lee! Thank you, Donna”
Here are a few of our exclusive venues, but to find the perfect venue based on your needs stop by our Venue Finder.
Tucked away on the outskirt of Athens, Georgia lies The Hill, an orphanage for antebellum and early twentieth century homes. A private residence owned by Lee Epting of Epting Events, the property’s historic charm and natural scenery make it one of the area’s most captivating event locations. The Hill is like a character from a story. Its rich and oftentimes winding history make it a great venue or rental location for people who want to celebrate Southern heritage. Stepping into the houses on The Hill, in particular the Armstrong-Dobbs House, the Donald-Epting House, the Quinn House and the Rock House, is like stepping into the past as these houses are artfully preserved and decorated to match the time period in which they were originally constructed. The sunken garden is an intimate area to hold the wedding ceremony while the greenery at the front of the property is ideal for large receptions and tent rentals. All four of these properties are available for a couple’s big day as well as extended stays for bridal parties.
The Cotton Press
The Cotton Press at Chase Park Warehouse is Epting Events’ newest event space. Located on Oneta Street, this historically restored venue features exposed brick walls and industrial steel beam work. A splash of graffiti runs along the interior of the space, adding to the Cotton Press’ modern look. Tucked just a mile away from downtown, the site serves as a contemporary venue for our clientele to host parties outside of the congested downtown atmosphere while still boasting capacity of 500 seated or 800 max.
